Yoga for Cyclists Classes with Kev Green in Bingham and Lady Bay
Monday afternoon, 2-3pm at The Poppy & Pint pub in Lady Bay (term-time only)
Thursday evening, 7-8.15pm at Bingham Robert Miles Infant School (term-time only)
As a fellow cyclist, I know how fantastic cycling is, but I also know that it can cause a pain in the butt, tight hamstrings, stiffness in the back, neck and shoulders, and leave you out of puff!
So if you want to ride faster and further, fly up those hills like a mountain goat, improve your flexibility and overall fitness, have laser-like focus and help your body recover more quickly too…
…Get off your bike and onto your yoga mat now!
Don’t worry if you’ve never done yoga! It’s a great cardiovascular workout, and you’ll be stretching and lengthening those tight muscles. You’ll leave the class knowing that you’ve exercised, and you’ll feel the benefits next time you get on your bike.
Everyone is welcome at these yoga classes, but we’ll be including some specific yoga postures to target problems cyclists typically suffer from. Try the stretch below to get you started – it’ll help that tightness in your glutes:
- Lie on the floor on your back, bend both knees and place the feet flat on the floor.
- Bring one leg up and rest the outside of the ankle on top of the opposite thigh, just above the knee.
- Reach through and clasp hands behind the thigh to draw your leg in. If you’re really flexible, clasp the hands around the knee (as shown).
- As you breathe out, gently draw your legs closer to your chest.
